Dr Muhammad Waseem was SyMeCo postdoctoral fellow with Lero@MU and who undertook his fellowship under the supervision of Prof Fabiano Pallonetto. Following his fellowship, Muhammad obtained a permanent position as Assistant Professor in Business Analytics at the School of Business, Maynooth University.

Muhammad’s SyMeCo research project, titled “Optimising Prosumer Dynamics in the European Power Grid via Integrated Digital Twins and Deep Learning to Facilitate the Energy Transition”, involved integrating distributed energy resources with power grids, energy systems modeling, and optimisation strategies for smart grids.

Muhammad has published extensively in leading journals such as Elsevier, IEEE, and IET and has presented at top international conferences, including AUPEC, UPEC, KPEC, and iSPEC. His academic achievements include the Academic Research Excellence Award (2020-2021) from Zhejiang University and a nomination for the CSC Award for his Ph.D. studies. In 2024, Muhammad was recognised among the top 2% of scientists worldwide in the field of energy in the Elsevier / Stanford University “World’s Top 2% Scientists list”. He is dedicated to advancing energy research and sustainability, developing innovative solutions for integrating renewable energy with modern power grids. He actively contributes as a reviewer for prestigious international journals, including IEEE, Elsevier, and IET, as well as leading conferences.
