Dr Anastasia Griva is an Assistant Professor in Business Information Systems at the University of Galway, Ireland, and Programme Director at the MSc in Business Analytics.
She holds a BSc in Management Science and Technology, an MSc (with honors) in Information Systems, and a Ph.D. in Business Analytics, all from AUEB. Her dissertation entitled “Data-driven Innovation in Shopper Marketing: A Business Analytics Approach for Visit Segmentation in the Retail Industry” is a result of applied research in industry-related business analytics problems. It aims at extracting business value from retail data to support data-driven decision-making.
Anastasia has worked on research commercialization by establishing two AI and analytics start-ups which have raised more than 1.3M from VC funds.
Her research interests lie in the areas of Business Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Innovation, and Customer Behaviour.
She has published in edited books, academic journals (e.g., Information Systems Frontiers, IT & People, International Journal of Hospitality Management, International Journal of Information Management, Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services, Expert Systems with Applications, IEEE Software, Journal of Decision Systems), and proceedings of international conferences (e.g., ECIS, MCIS, EURO). She has served as a Guest Editor for various journals (e.g., ISF, IJIM, JDS). For the last 3 years, she serves as track chair for the AI track at ECIS.
Anastasia also was a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow recipient (ALECS fellowship) at Lero, where she worked on applied Business Analytics in software development projects with industry partners such as Intel.
